Magoroku - Damascus Knife (petit knife) 孫六 ペティナイフ

Derived from Middle Eastern sword-making techniques, the Magoroku Knife is from Gifu prefecture, Japan, with a centuries old tradition of blade making.

Wootz steel was discovered in India c.300BC and used to make knives long ago in Damascus, Syria. These swords are characterised by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be tough, resistant to shattering and capable of being honed to a sharp, resilient edge. The technique for making Wootz steel was lost for centuries before revived in Japan when used for making swords. Magoroku has created an original method of embellishing the blade using layers, and distinguished piece, which is also durable, does not rust, keeps a very sharp edge and easy care - this knife is the one to keep.
